Motorised curtains in Bangalore

Motorised curtain and track installation across Bangalore. Wi-Fi, Zigbee, or KNX motors, retrofit or new track, voice and app control. Part of a smart home or standalone.

Typical duration: Single track in 2-3 hours; a full 3BHK (5-7 curtains) in a single day

TL;DR. Motorised curtain installation across Bangalore — Wi-Fi, Zigbee, or KNX motors depending on your home. Retrofit onto a suitable existing rod, or replace with a clean motorised track. A single track installs in 2-3 hours; a full 3BHK in a day. Voice and app control, scene integration if you have a smart home. 1-year warranty. We install the motor and track; you handle fabric, or we coordinate it.

Motorised curtains are one of the most satisfying pieces of home automation — daily-use convenience that everyone in the home actually notices. Homezee installs them as standalone projects and as part of larger smart home systems, across Wi-Fi, Zigbee, and KNX depending on what the rest of your home runs on.

What’s involved

A motorised curtain install is a motor, a track (or a retrofit motor on your existing rod), and the control setup — app, voice, and scene integration. The motor moves the curtain along the track; you control it from your phone, by voice, on a schedule, or as part of a scene. We measure the track length and assess the existing setup during the site visit, because the right approach depends a lot on what’s already on your wall.

Wi-Fi versus Zigbee versus KNX curtain motors

Wi-Fi curtain motors connect directly to your home Wi-Fi and the brand’s app, work with Alexa and Google Home, and need no hub. The trade-off: each motor is one more device on your Wi-Fi, which strains consumer routers once you have several curtains plus everything else smart in the home.

Zigbee curtain motors connect to a Zigbee hub — which you likely already have if you’re doing smart home — don’t load your Wi-Fi, and are more reliable in homes with many devices. The best fit when curtains are part of a broader smart home rather than standalone.

KNX or wired curtain motors are for new construction or full renovation where automation runs on a wired bus. Highest reliability, longest life, and they integrate into full scene control — one button does “movie mode” and the curtains are part of it.

Our practical rule: Wi-Fi for one to three curtains in an otherwise simple setup, Zigbee for whole-home smart installs, KNX for new construction or premium projects.

Retrofit existing rods, or replace with track

Sometimes a retrofit motor works on your existing rod — if the rod is straight, robust, and the fabric is light to medium weight, a clip-on motor moves the carrier along it. Lower cost, faster, but the motor is visible on one end and the aesthetic doesn’t always match.

More often we recommend replacing the rod with a proper motorised track — a low-profile aluminium track with an internal motor, reusing your existing curtains if they’re compatible. Cleaner look, smoother operation, longer warranty.

Honest note: many “retrofit my existing rod” requests turn out not to be practical once we see the actual rod at the site visit — Indian apartment curtain rods are often non-standard sizes or overloaded with heavy fabric. We tell you which scenario applies after we’ve seen it, not before.

Fabric — your tailor or ours

We install the motor and track. We don’t supply curtain fabric — most customers source it through their own tailor, which is usually cheaper and gives you more choice, and we coordinate timing so the fabric is ready when we install. If you’d rather we handle fabric procurement too, we can, but sourcing it yourself is the cost-effective path.

Power requirements — plan ahead

Curtain motors need power. Most installations need either a nearby plug point — we use an existing one or coordinate with your electrician to add one — or a hidden internal battery with charging access. We flag the power requirement during the site visit specifically so there are no surprises on installation day.

Installation time

A single track installs in 2-3 hours including motor mounting, app pairing, and the customer walkthrough. A full 3BHK with five to seven curtains across rooms usually completes in a single day. When curtains are part of a larger smart home install, we fold them into the broader installation rather than scheduling a separate visit.

Brands we install

We install three brands across the premium and value tiers:

Somfy — the global benchmark in motorised window coverings, with a track record across residential and commercial projects worldwide. The default choice when the customer wants the highest reliability and the widest range of motor types and track systems.

Hunter Douglas — premium architectural window coverings with integrated motorised systems. A strong choice for custom-designed rooms where the track is part of the interior finish rather than just a functional add-on.

Dooya — reliable, well-made, strong value. The practical choice that covers the majority of Bangalore installs cleanly, without the premium pricing of Somfy or Hunter Douglas.

We recommend the right brand for your project at the site visit — based on your window dimensions, fabric weight, integration requirements, and budget. Not the highest margin.

We don’t install no-name imported budget motors. They fail within 6-12 months, and the cost of replacing one — call-back visit, dismantle, reinstall — is more than the saving on the cheaper unit. We learned this on early installs and stopped quoting those brands.

Pricing

Motorised curtain pricing depends on track length, fabric weight, motor type, and whether you’re retrofitting or installing fresh track. A single light-to-medium-fabric track is a modest per-window cost; heavy blackout curtains, long spans, or curved tracks cost more because the motor torque and rail engineering go up. Exact pricing comes from the site visit once we’ve measured and assessed the existing setup.

Warranty

Every installation comes with a 1-year comprehensive warranty covering motor defects and installation faults. If a motor fails within warranty, we replace it free.

What we don’t do

We don’t install budget no-name motors — the false economy costs more in callbacks than it saves. And we don’t supply fabric as our core scope; that stays with your tailor, with us coordinating timing.

What we don't do

We don't install no-name imported budget motors that fail within 6-12 months — replacing a failed motor costs more than the saving on the cheap one. We don't supply curtain fabric; you source it through your tailor (usually cheaper) or we coordinate, but the motor and track is our scope.
